BOTOX & DYSPORT INJECTIONS
BOTOX
Botox is the most well-known aesthetic injectable treatment for reducing the appearance of expression lines that cause facial wrinkles over time. We now know that Botox can play a significant role in preventing the signs of aging so we are seeing more of a younger patient base as well who understand the role it can play in age management. This product consists of natural, purified proteins that in low and safe doses, relax the muscles that can create fine lines and wrinkles due to repetitive movements.
It is most commonly used to treat “the 11’s” between the eyebrows, but also is used to soften expression lines on the forehead and crow’s feet. It can be used to achieve a slight brow lift; soften necklines; reduce a downturned mouth, and even treat a gummy smile or excessive underarm sweating known as hyperhidrosis.
DYSPORT
We utilize Dysport in the same manner as Botox. It is simply another neuromodulator to choose from and is very similar to Botox. While the two are very interchangeable for the most part, your provider may choose one over the other for particular areas depending on your individual anatomy and metabolism. Dysport is becoming a more well-known name in the industry and many clinics offer both options to their patients.
DERMAL FILLERS
Dermal fillers are strategically placed to provide volume that has either been lost over time, or where there is a natural deficit due to individual facial anatomy. By adding volume, you can immediately observe the improvement in the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines making this a more gratifying experience since the results can be seen right away. Beyond treating lines and wrinkles, we are seeing a trend in the use of fillers to restore balance to the face which can produce a more youthful and naturally beautiful appearance. Depending upon which filler you use, you can see results for 6 months to over a year or more! There is a wide variety of dermal fillers on the market, but the more popular ones include the Restylane family such as Lyft, Kysse, Contour, Refyne and Defyne. The other most popular dermal fillers come from the Juvederm family including Voluma, Vollure, Volbella, Juvederm Ultra and Volux. These are all composed of hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occurring substance in our bodies that attracts and holds moisture making it a very well tolerated procedure. Which one is right for you depends on what issues you’re looking to address and where on the face you are treating.
SCULPTRA
Sculptra is often lumped into the filler category, but because it contains poly-L-lactic acid, it functions a bit differently. It is referred to as a bio stimulator because it prompts your body to make more of its own collagen and elastin which helps to support the skin’s inner structure. Its newest FDA-approved indication which is being launched soon, is actually the stimulation of subcutaneous adipose (the healthy fat in our faces) It is often used to create a foundation that can be built upon with more long-lasting results. In summary, this product provides structure to your face and helps your skin by creating that “Sculptra glow.”
SILHOUETTE THREADS
Silhouette Threads, also called Silhouette InstaLift, is a non-surgical and minimally invasive treatment used to provide lift to the face where you see laxity, most commonly in the midface area. It uses dissolvable threads made of poly-lactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA) and poly-L lactic acid (PLLA) to lift the face to create higher cheekbones, fuller cheeks, and a better-defined jawline. They also stimulate the production of collagen in the skin so we categorize them as bio stimulators as well. These are typically used as the final icing on the cake for the patient who has appropriately had their facial volume loss addressed with dermal fillers or Sculptra first, but then are looking for something extra to ensure the best possible non-surgical lift to their faces.
PRP
PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma and is a treatment that uses your own blood to increase collagen and elastin production in your skin. The treatment begins by drawing a small amount of your own blood, spinning it down in a centrifuge where it separates the plasma from the blood. The platelet-rich plasma is then injected into specific areas where we want to see more improvement in collagen production. This is commonly focused to treat thin and crepey skin under the eyes, or in combination with SkinPen Microneedling to ensure maximum collagenesis within the skin. In addition to being used to stimulate collagen production and strengthen the skin, PRP can be injected in the scalp to promote hair growth! This is best for thinning hair, to stop the loss and promote new healthy growth. PRP is liquid gold – it really can work wonders, but it is only as healthy as you are!
KYBELLA
Kybella is a type of injectable treatment used to reduce fat under the chin often referred to as submental fullness. Kybella® is made from a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally occurring molecule in our bodies that can metabolize dietary fat. Most people need 2-4 treatment sessions before they see their desired results. Full results can be appreciated 12 weeks after the last treatment. We will also commonly use Kybella in other unique areas, like the underarm pouch or bra fat area (typically small areas that can not be treated with Coolsculpting)
